We're in the age of technology, but yet college seems to lack behind in tackling on the full benefit of having technology. Of course we use the basic tools we need for school such as word or another software to take notes, reading our textbooks online, or even completing our homework through blackboard. Yet, it's just another way for us to do what we would regularly do without technology. There are multiple ways that Baruch can implement new media in its courses, especially when it comes to CIS. For starters, I would advice professors to record their lectures and upload it onto blackboard or an external site. Yes, it's important for students to show up to class and pay attention, but given the circumstances not all students may be able to fulfill that requirement. There may be days where they are sick and unable to attend or they're having a rough day and it's affecting their mind. Having that recorded lecture would allow the students to go back on that lecture and fully understand what the topic is about. Another advice I would suggest is using more videos that may relate to the lecture. It does not help that professor may or may not be reading off the slide and the student is following the textbook. The use of video will be refreshing and may benefit visual and auditory learners.
